Rev. Charles McClung III (Charlie): “I am 5th in a line of Presbyterian Ministers and did my best to avoid getting hit by that generational bus, growing up in the church but keeping a certain distance while planning (and beginning) a career in secondary education. God had different ideas, calling me first to a personal and committed faith, and later to pastoral ministry.
That ministry has included prior churches in Aliquippa, Franklin, and Lake City, PA. It has also included a spiritual support and prayer ministry for people seeking emotional healing, a prison healing group at SCI Albion, and part time work as a hospice chaplain with AseraCare Hospice. As these ministries developed and changed contemplative prayer has been a rich and transforming support.
Throughout I’ve been blessed with a small family in my wife, Joan (a “mish-kid” who was born in India!), and an adult daughter, Beth (who “dodged” the family ‘bus’ by going into social work).
To keep life balanced I love to play my French horn in the Gem City Concert Band and occasional other venues, take in Erie’s classical music offerings, hike and paddle my kayak, and watch a few trains (‘Choo-choo Charlie’). Even played a little hockey for a few years – what a blast! Jesus is not a dull Lord!”
